Community · Your first visit
You don’t have to walk in cold.
Pick a group. Ask a few questions. Make a plan for showing up.
Start with one real local contact
Use Find Your People to choose a lead, then confirm its current local contact. A national membership or directory listing doesn’t confirm a local meeting, an invitation or attendance.
Your four starter steps below are editable. Add the chapter name and your next action after checking with the group. Keep contact details in your own address book. You can download this plan and reopen it in My Plan.
- Choose a chapter or group and confirm it is active.
- Ask about the next meeting, costs, access and whether someone can welcome you.
- Plan the visit or call, including transport and a backup if plans change.
- Afterward, decide whether to return, follow up or try another group.
If the controls don’t load, use these steps on paper. Checking off a step records your progress only; it doesn’t contact anyone or confirm participation.
Work stays in this tab. Download a plan file before you leave, then reopen it here later. No account needed, and nothing is saved to a server — plans live only in this browser tab until you download them. Files may contain your notes; keep them somewhere private and leave out claim numbers, Social Security numbers and medical records.
Progress is your own record. Marking a step done does not submit an application, confirm a referral or establish approval.
Interactive controls are loading. If they do not load, you can write your next steps on paper and use the resource directory.
